Sky Ferreira ft. Blood Orange: "Everything Is Embarrassing"

Sky Ferreira is a name we’ve been hearing a lot of lately… and for good reason. Fresh into her twenties and Ferreira has already graced the cover of Jealous magazine, been photographed by Terry Richardson and Ellen von Unwerth, starred in the 2010 independent film, Putty Hill, featured in Calvin Klein’s ad campaign for CK One fragrance ad campaign and recorded the EP, “17.”

Sky is currently working on her debut album I’m Not All Right, but is not the Electro-Pop and glitter filled melodies that she has become known for. The album contains a much more Blondie oriented emotion and holds tracks that have been co-written/produced by the likes of Jon Brion, Shirley Manson and Greg Kurston.

“Lost in My Bedroom” which is according to Ferreira, “the most Electro-Pop on the album”, was released back in March and definitely felt a little more “grown up” than her previous record’s and proved that the album I’m Not Alright is something to look forward to.

It has now been stated that she will release an EP titled Ghost on October 2nd, via EMI. Jon Brion produces the album but for the breakout single, “Everything is Embarrassing”, she got together with Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes and Ariel Rechtshaid (Usher) for what might be the jam of the season.

A simple Dance-Pop track about longing and waiting of course for your lover, is reminiscent of, Blondie or Prince or Madonna without feeling like it’s trying. In fact half way through the chorus her lyrics hint as if she’s given up on the love interest in the song. If this is the case she gave up in the best way possible, however I am only one man with one opinion, below is the song “Everything is Embarrassing” and I recommend you take a listen and form your own opinion but either way get used to hearing the name Sky Ferreira.
