The New York Art Book Fair

This weekend, good citizens will be setting their sights on the other side of New York’s East River. Long Island City in Queens will be their desired destination. The Reason:  books as art or rather, “artwork for the page”.  Starting this Friday, the NY Art Book Fair will draw thousands of art devotees to MoMA PS1. In its 7th year, the Fair will gather together more than 275 D.I.Y. publishers, international presses, booksellers and artists from all over the globe. More than 26 countries will be represented and sharing their wares.  Free and open to the public, you will be able to meander and stroll, leaf your way through the pages of independent contemporary art catalogues, one-of-a-kind artist’s books and zines, monographs and periodicals. Peppered throughout the weekend will also be book signings, screenings, performances and the promised inclusion of special project rooms and artist-led discussions and workshops. The lovely folks at Printed Matter Inc. as always, present the festivities. The not-for-profit “is dedicated to the examination and interrogation of the changing role of artists’ publications in the landscape of contemporary art.”

An everything bagel with cream cheese + the NY Art Book Fair = a killer Sunday
